Connectland USB Electric Razor

Posted in USB by Matt on September 17th, 2007

Connectland USB Electric RazorSome things walk a thin line between useless and utility, and while I can think of a situation where a USB rechargeable razor would have been more convenient than a battery powered or car chargeable one, I can only think of one. So if you’re a student at a college like the one I used to hike near, and you needed to erase that 5 o’clock shadow before a night class after spending the day with your laptop studying the environment and wanted to fit your razor easily in your laptop case pouch, this might be useful.

The device’s robustness with respect to its ability to shave anything more than a 5 o’clock is suspect, and I question its durability and longevity. Suggested retail price is $19.95 but this thing is so gimmicky it seems like something you’d get as a door prize in a drawing at a sales convention.

Triops Camera Shoots Sponatneous Photos

Posted in Concepts,Digital Cameras,Digital Imaging by Reuben Drake on September 17th, 2007

Triops digital camera concept has 3 fish-eye lenses to take panoramic shots on its own or on commandThis design concept from Franziska Faoro is called the Triops and consists of 3 fish-eye digital camera lenses facing in 3 separate directions allowing it to take 360 degree panoramic shots. What’s really cool about the device is that it can take them on its own at unexpected moments.

The Triops will take pictures in reaction to movements or sound and can be thrown and take the photos in mid-air. It can also be set to take shots manually and then send them wirelessly to a separate viewing/storage/docking station. This design is still a concept at this point but is definitely something we think would be fun to own.

California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signs bill to ban teens from using mobile devices while drivingA new law has been signed by governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in the state of California which will ban teenage drivers from using mobile phones and other mobile devices while driving. The ban goes into effect on July 1, 2008 and will apply a fine to teens using cell phones, pagers and laptop or handheld computers while behind the wheel.

July 1 is the same date a similar law goes into effect for all drivers in California requiring the use of hands-free devices for talking on the phone while driving, but isn’t quite as strict as the new bill signed for teens last week.

“The simple fact is that teenage drivers are more easily distracted,” said Schwarzenegger. “They are young, inexperienced, and have a slower reaction time. We want to eliminate any extra distractions so

Boombox in a Shoe

Posted in CD Player,Concepts,Foot Apparel by Reuben Drake on September 15th, 2007

athletic shoe with a CD player and speakers built inTake a look at this design concept of a CD-playing athletic shoe. (We had considered titling this post “BoomShoe” but then thought again.) It comes with everything you need to play CD’s built-in, including a compact disc player, speaker, tweeters and a small knob for volume. It even has some controls for play, stop, forward and back embedded into the side.

The design picture is pretty cool but I would bet you would have some real “skipping” problems with this one. Throw in some Flash memory and a small LCD screen and I think we would really have something.

Phone-Shaped Stun Gun in Disguise

Posted in Security by Reuben Drake on September 15th, 2007

The Immobilizer stun gun is shaped like a cell phoneThis gadget may look like a modern-day cell phone but it’s actually not a phone at all. In fact, if you hear something ringing you’ll want to make a point NOT to try to answer this one.

This mobile-phone impostor is actually a 900,000 volt stun gun, which is one of the highest voltage stun guns available according to the company. The Immobilizer Cell Phone Stun Gun measures only 4 inches tall and provides protection from would-be bad guys who will really never know what hit them.

The Immobilizer has a couple working buttons on the face where you would usually find the Send Call and End Call buttons. One is for a built-in 12 LED flashlight and the other is a whopping jot of stun. Due to this you’ll want to be sure of which button you want when …

Ferrari 360 – Fastest Limo in the World

black Ferrari 360 Modena carbon fibre stretch limousine launched as the fastest limo in the worldWe’ve seen some pretty cool limousines in our time (driving by of course, not the inside) but never one quite like this. Usually the folks stretching out a vehicle will do it with something that has a little more girth, giving its passengers a little party room.

In the case with this stretched Ferrari 360 Modena, it appears that the goal might be to ride in more of a sporty (cramped), luxurious style. This limousine has been dubbed the fastest limo in the world and still has those awesome gull-wing style doors, only bigger (9 feet).
