Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 works wireless and transceiver freeMicrosoft has announced the launch of its new Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 designed for use with notebook computers providing wireless mousing without the need for any transceiver sticking out of your USB port.

According to Microsoft, over half of the notebooks shipping next year are likely to have Bluetooth built-in, and a wireless Bluetooth mouse makes connectivity even more convenient than a traditional wireless mouse that requires a separate piece plugged into your notebook to receive the signal.

The 5000 is a laser mouse that also has a battery life indicator built in so there’s no more guessing how much juice is left. Microsoft says you can expect up to 3 months of battery life with the Mouse 5000. It features right and left click buttons, a scroll wheel with click functionality and a 4th back button for easier web navigation. The mouse can also actually be turned off with an On/Off button as well, to further conserver its battery life while traveling in your notebook case.

The Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 is retailing for $49.95 and is available for pre-order now from Amazon.
