Linksys bringing new Media Center Extenders |
Linksys has released some scant information about two new Media Center Extenders that they have slated for launch in November, designed to extend the reach of the digital media on your computer through the Windows Media Center.
One problem that a lot of people have with digital media, especially high-def movies, on their computer is having a way to get it out of the room with the computer an into their entertainment center. These extenders avoid having to have a dedicated computer in your entertainment room by streaming the content to your TV or home stereo.
As we mentioned, there aren’t a lot of details on the new extenders yet, but it looks like there will be two models; the DMA 2100 and the DMA 2220 which includes a DVD player. Both units have a learning remote that lets you navigate content and the DMA 200 has built-in DVD upscaling. They will also both connect and stream data through your Wi-Fi network (802.11n), letting you easily get your movies, music and pictures out of your office and connected with your entertainment center.
No pricing or exact release date yet, but we’ll definitely be watching for more info on these.
