Faster than the eye |
Casio Computer made an announcement yesterday in Berlin at the IFA, a consumer electronics trade show, that pushes the envelope outward as to how fast digital camera speeds can be. The company showed off its latest invention, a camera that can take a burst of 60 frames per second at its most maximum resolution or take VGA quality video at 300 frames per second (that’s faster than the human eye can see) thanks to a high-speed LSI image processing chip inside of it. There is also a feature called Pre-shot Burst Mode which will also record a sequence of images just before your finger presses the button, just in case something happens in the moment before you thought it was going to happen.
The 6.0-megapixel, 12x optical zoom camera doesn’t have a brand name yet and who knows when the average joes will get their hands on it but the idea of finally being able to take ultra-slow motion video clips on a commercially available camera is most welcome here at the Brick. Now we have another reason to blow things up in slo-mo and then share the results on YouTube.
