Sony GV-HD700 Video WalkmanSony is set to unveil next month a portable video player which works with HDV or standard mini-DV video tapes. The Sony GV-HD700 Video Walkman will be available in September for around $1,300.

The GV-HD700 features a seven-inch widescreen display designed to ensure all of the recorded frame area is displayed. It is capable of recording HDV and DV signals from an external source for backup purposes and can also transfer digital still images from tapes to Memory Sticks.

Other features of this device include assignable function buttons, multiple ports for recording and playing tapes from a variety of sources and HDMI output to connect to a compatible television. We see this device being a big deal for those who use HDV camcorders, but how people at this point out in the world are really doing that?
