Sanyo Xacti HD1000You ever notice there’s always a “smallest and lightest” something or rather being announced by CE manufacturers? The newest gadget to fall into this category is the Sanyo Xacti HD1000, the “world’s smallest and lightest full HD digital camcorder.”

The Sanyo Xacti HD1000, priced at around $800 and due out in September, weighs 9.5 ounces and has a total volume of 16.6 cubic inches. It’s capable of full 1080i HD video recorded in the AVC/H.264 standard and sports a 2.7-inch widescreen display. Sanyo is also proud of this camcorder’s hardware and software interface for file saving and television playback.

You have to admit that a small HD camcorder likes this does seem like a cool idea. Just one more tech toy to stuff in the old carry on so a TSA agent has to struggle to figure out what it is.
