Ultra-portable CD and MP3 player

ultra portable CD and MP3 player conceptCheck out this portable CD player concept by Yong-Seong Kim we found over at Yanko Designs. The device looks a little longer than the radius of a CD and can store and play MP3′s just like a normal portable MP3 player might. If you have a CD that for some odd reason you haven’t ripped to MP3′s (maybe you want that original, old-school CD quality sound) you can spread out the arms of the MP3 player, slide in a CD and play away. It would also be really cool if you could use it to read data from a CD or rip your CD’s directly to the device.

  8. Xotano Says:

i don’t think it would work well with the cd being out in the open where it can be damaged or even sharpened as use as a weapon but it is a cool idea nonetheless and you should get it made

  9. Xotano Says:

actually the cd would need a lot of power to be used as a weapon scrap that idea >.>

    this screams liability…
“ripping a cd” involves spinning the disk multiple times faster than a normal cd player, which is about 500rpm.
to give you an idea, a cd player is a 1x cd rom drive.
most cds are ripped in 48x drives. thats talking over 20000rpm.

an open air cd drive is not safe end of story
