CECT W100 Wrist WatchA common theme you see on gadget blogs like ours is cool tech found overseas which may or may not ever make it to America. A new example of this is the minimal geek looking CECT W100 Wrist Watch.

The CECT W100 Wrist Watch, designed by Qiao Xing Mobile Communication of China, is believed to be the first watch phone in that large Asian country. It comes in seven colors and sports a nice LCD touch screen with which to control its functions. Though no specifics were given by its designers about its phone network capabilities it was said the phone will come with 1GB of built-in memory and supports Bluetooth.

Other features on this wrist phone include audio/video file viewing, FM radio and a 1.3-megapixel digital camera. No pricing or availability information was specifically announced for the United States, though it was mentioned it will be available in stores in mid-September. Perhaps an importer will pick it up if it’s not released here directly? One can only hope…

“Hmm, the picture says “2.0 m pixels”, not 1.3 as in the text..” That is the rate exchange for megapixels

  4. Joel Says:

    thats f***ing AWESOME.

an lcd screen for a watch… great idea..

i wonder how practical it will be to use a watch as a phone, having to hold it up to your mouth, and then to your ear to listen?

its got some cool features though, i could see something like this being very big sometime in the future… maybe even doubling as a keycard of sorts, for business types.

man, it’s 18 of september 2007 now. I searched deeply into china’s web and video posting search engine, but found no of this kind of product. I have several times emailed qiao xing for confirmation of the product release, no reply.

  6. arjun Says:

  7. Smith Oshodin Says:

Hey this is awesome but from a more realistic point of view i don’t see how this will be convenient. because if you take your wrist to you ear it is not convenient so i don’t see how comfortable this will be using it. except if you have to use a bluetooth headset but anyway. i still love it but would like to know how convenient it will be to dial on the keypad and listen to your calls. Or is this done over the speaker?

  8. Mike B Says:

Why not make a modest looking phonewatch
with a separate headset put in the ear?

While you may have a point about the practicality of holding it up to your ear to talk, I highly doubt many people would be using it WITHOUT a bluetooth headset. Otherwise you’d have to keep taking it off to use it, unless that is if you’re a contortionist.

Hey guys .. it can can be find in http://www.pacnpay.com .

  11. Phonelover Says:

this might look a bit odd and big… but it’s the most electrifying thing man….

I have the Nova N800 which is a clone of the W100. It’s fun and usable, but I hope future versions will be reduced to half the thickness.

The phone can be easily detached from the wristband and used like any other cellphone through the built-in speaker and microphone. Detachability is a must-have feature to make these devices useful. The people like me who buy these things, buy them to combine all the separate cumbersome devices like a watch, phone and camera into one tiny wearable device. A separate bluetooth headset is just replacing one of those cumbersome devices with another.

So if anyone who is designing these things is reading this, please make something detachable, small and thin, and with a touchscreen that covers the entire device. And find a way to make it always display time like a real watch when in idle mode, while still providing a battery autonomy of several days.

  16. Marcos Says:

They are very weak, broken easy and the sound is very low.
All are big size .Why camera in it? is inconvenient.
