hdmi1000_glam.jpgMonster Cable believes you should get serious about understanding how the HDMI cables you use impact your HD viewing experience. To that end the cable company unveiled today a new line of “speed-rated” HDMI cables and accompanying education campaign.

The Monster Speed Rated HDMI Cables come in five different speed ratings: ultimate high, ultra high, advanced high, high and standard. These categories will be rated on individual cables sold at retail and will appear as logos on the cable packaging. The speed factor is especially important to note, according to Monster, with cable length and the fact the company plans to offer great performance in its cables regardless of how long they are.

This attempt by Monster to educate consumers on the various classes of HDMI cables begs the question: is this useful or even more confusing? Is it a marketing ploy or an honest attempt to help? Time will tell…
