Green PC |
The makers of the Zonbu say that it is the world’s first green PC and they seem to be right. Unlike 99.9999% of the computers out there, the Zonbu stores all of your files on the company’s servers so all you need is a connection to the internet and that’s it. You buy blocks of hard drive space (25, 50 or 100 GB) at monthly rates ($12.95, $14.95 or $19.95). Zonbu takes care of the back-ups so you never have to worry about recovering your files. The PC machine uses a low-power CPU which draws less electricity so you could save up to $10 a month on your energy bill. The unit also includes 512 MB RAM, uses 4GB of flash-based memory for local storage, has graphics acceleration capable of delivering 1400 x 1050 (16 million colors), a built-in 10/100 Mbps Ethernet and 6 USB ports. All you need to do is plug it in, connect it to the Internet and you’re good to go.
The cost of owning a Zonbu depends on what kind of subscription plan you decide to go with. The best savings are with the two-year plan which reduces the cost of the Zonbu down to $99 while a month-to-month plan brings the price of the machine up to $249. You can even buy skins for your Zonbu to coordinate with the room it’s in.

Not only is the machine green, but it’s quite. That’s what’s important. Nothing is moving in there.
