WildCharge Delayed, Pricing and More Details Available |
July 7th came and went and we were starting to wonder if WildCharge was going to start taking orders as we had expected, until this we checked out their site this morning. The website underwent some changes and it appears that ordering of the much anticipated wireless charging pad is going to be delayed by a couple weeks. Once the online store is enabled the WildCharge charger will be available only through the company website and will ship “shortly” after ordering.
There were also some more details available from the website about exactly how the wireless charger will work, and with what devices. The Motorola RAZR will be the first product that WildCharge will make an adapter for to allow wireless charging. This requires you to remove the existing back cover of the RAZR and replace it with the WildCharge adapter, and then connect a small charging wire from the adapter to the charging port of the phone.
The second adapter coming in August will be for the iPod Nano, which will connect to the bottom docking port of the Nano to charge it. After that, with no specific dates given, they will make adapters for RIM Blackberry smartphones and then other devices.
Another interesting tidbit is that the charge pad will be magnetic, so placing your devices with the adapters on them will “stick” to the pad and not slide off. You can even have the charge pad on a wall and the devices will hang while the charge.
Pricing for the charge pad is looking fairly reasonable when you think about the convenience it provides and that it would eventually work for any device, but the adapters required for each gadget will start to add up especially compared to just buying a new cord. The WildCharge charging pad alone will go for $59.99, with the adapter for the RAZR and the iPod Nano running $34.99 each. You can also get the charge pad and RAZR adapter bundled for $89.99, saving yourself $5.
It could be that the company isn’t quite ready with their products yet or maybe they’re waiting for the iPhone dust to settle a little, but we’ll keep watching for the WildCharge to be available in the coming weeks. For now it looks like RAZR owners will be the only ones to try it out early on.

better check your math Darrin…the bundled price of the wildcharge saves a whopping 5 bucks, not 15.
Thanks Gene, I made the change.
That’s what I get for trying to do simple math in my head I guess
