iPhone Keyboard Typing |
Adding to our daily installment of iPhone news for the week leading up to Friday’s launch, Apple has added yet another new video to their site showing off the touchscreen keyboard and typing instructions.
The video shows an actual QWERTY style keyboard upright in a portrait layout with each of the keys being fairly small, although in the demonstration video it all looks very easy and accurate. As you press each key it shows a “confirmation letter” that pops up to show you which key is under you finger. Apple also suggests being “deliberate” with your key presses which make it sound like some pressure is necessary. This may help with the reduction of fist-keying your text.
The video also shows off some spell check features and an interesting typing aid where the iPhone can recognize if there is a higher likeliness that you will press a particular key more than the ones around it based on the word you’re typing. The most-likely key will then be enlarged over the positions next to it in order to makes its selection easier. Kinda’ cool.
You can check out the video, and not unlike sleeping at a Holiday Inn Express last night, you can portray yourself as an iPhone expert at the water cooler tomorrow.
