Panasonic D-Snap SV-SD850N MP3 player |
Panasonic will be leading out its new line of D-Snap players at the end of April with the D-Snap SV-SD850N digital audio player.
The 12mm thick player has an FM tuner, supports AAC, WMA and MP3 files, has a line in recorder and a 4 line text display which makes the player somewhat interesting, but none of those features really stand out to us. One of the features that do increase our level of interest is the impressive battery life. The D-Snap SV-SD850N is boasting 80 hours of music file playback on a single charge. That number drops significantly with the FM tuner or recording, but nevertheless is impressive.
Another interesting point of this new D-Snap is a noise canceling feature, which according to the press release can cut ambient noise by up to 83%. The noise canceling can be turned on or off by the touch of a button on the player, which incidentally will also cut the music playback time by 20% when being used.
Aside from being packaged with some decent looking earbuds, the D-Snap comes with a 1GB SD card giving about 16 hours of 128kbps music playback, and supports SD cards up to 4GB. This DAP is expected to be available in Japan on April 26th retailing for around $168.

I just purchase the SV-SD850N directly from Japan. It has taken me almost a month to get it to work. The SD-Jukebox software shipped with the unit will not work in the U.S. I had to contact Panasonic Japan support to send the correct English version. They were fantasic, Panasonic U.S. support was horriable. Now that I have the correct software the player works great!
Beware!!!!!!Software will not work under the english XP OS
only works Japanesee OS
Hi Jeff, I also bought the player as soon as it was released in Japan and the software does not work, so I resorted to using the previous software as I had two earlier generations of the mp3 players.
How did you contact Panasonic Japan for a working English version of the software? Or if you have any way of getting the software over to me, I would be very much grateful.
Thanks in advance, Jeff
