Samsung Ultra Edition II Series Phones |
Samsung introduced four new phones from its Ultra Edition II Series of slim and stylish handsets, including the U100 - the slimmest phone in the world (pictured). These phones build on the success of the original Ultra Edition range released back in July 2006.
The initial portfolio of Ultra Edition II phones consist of two sliders, the Ultra Edition 10.9 (U600) and the Ultra Edition 12.1 (U700); a metallic clamshell, the Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300); and a candy bar handset, the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100).
Each of the Ultra Edition II phones take advantage of Samsung’s Optimized Power Usage Solution (OPUS), which increases talk time by 10%, power saving by 30% and battery capacity by 10%. Also, each model has a 3 megapixel camera, high-speed Internet connectivity, a digital power amp developed by Bang and Olufsen, and a dedicated music interface.
The highlight of the group is the Ultra Edition 5.9 (U100), which is proclaimed to be the world’s slimmest handset measuring just 105.5 x 50 x 5.9 mm. The U100 includes a 3 mega-pixel camera, 1.93” color TFT screen, 11 hours of music play time and high-speed connectivity.
The Ultra Edition II phones were unveiled at the 3GSM conference in Barcelona along with the F700, F520 and F510. The Ultra Edition II will be released in the European Market in the first quarter of this year. Pricing details were not given at this time.
