Everyone in my class thought I was crazy when I saw this thing, it was huge, I tried to tell them about his big red head and ended up looking like a nut.
Anyway, this thing was huge, and pecking away at a tree in the woods, there is a house right by it too, maybe I can set up a camera without looking like a weirdo?
LoL
I have photo's of the damage but the bird is fast,he knows how to stay elusive, and that's a good thing.

Ok,<br

They only thrive in tupelo gum swamps. We have many pileateds which so many people mistake for an ivory-bill. The ivory-bill also makes a sound that the pileated doesn't make. It is a shame that much of their habitat no longer exists

I have only seen a few of the ivory-bills in my life and that was back in the early 60′s on Bayou D’Loutre in Union Parish in the state of Louisiana when I was squirrell hunting. I noticed it was different, and then I walked closer. It was a woodpecker. I looked it up on this website and found out it was a ivory billed woodpecker. We live in northeast Alabama, DeKalb, Fyffe. Hope to hear from You.

June 7, 2008, While feeding dogs noticed a strange sound, and went to look, and seen a strange bird with a red crest the size of a crow on a power line pole.
