New Coolpix Camera Line from Nikon |
Here on the Brick we’ve already covered Nikon’s Coolpix L10 and L11 models but in celebration of the line’s 10th anniversary this year the company has six more new digital camera models coming out. Nikon has classified the Coolpix line into three categories: P (Performance) series feature are aimed for the needs of photography professionals that want the highest performance money can buy; S (Style) series models are made for ease of use and a strong visual appeal to consumers; and L (Life) series cameras have the easiest user interface of them all.
The high-end of the series is the P5000. Measuring 98 x 64.5 x 41 mm, this camera has 10.0 megapixels of resolution, built-in vibration reduction technology offsetting camera shaking, a 3.5x Zoom-Nikkor lens, four exposure modes and the option to add on wide-angle, telephoto lenses or external flashes, making it great unit for the serious camera enthusiast that doesn’t want to be lugging around heavy equipment. The onboard 21 MB of internal memory guarantees that you will have plenty of room for all of your photos and some video too.
A feature called BSS, or Best Shot Selector, selects the sharpest image automatically from ten sequential shots. A nice 2.5-inch LCD screen on the reverse side features anti-reflection coating, making it easier to playback and look at what you just shot on bright sunny days. You’ll get about 250 shots from the rechargeable battery, and weighing in at about 200 grams, you won’t notice it inside your sachel or backpack.
The Coolpix P5000 is scheduled to go on sale around the end of March and for about $650.
