Nintendo to Release New Wii Games in Q1 2007

Nintendo to Release Wii Games in First Quarter 2007Nintendo has announced the release of over a dozen of new and classic games for the Wii. These games will be available in the first quarter of 2007 and help maintain Wii’s promise to make gaming accessible to all gamers - young and old, veteran and new alike.

The first three months of the year will see the release of much-anticipated games like Wii Play, SSX Blur, The Godfather Blackhand Edition, and a new Prince of Persia Rival Swords. Beyond the current library of 34 new Wii titles, the schedule for upcoming Wii releases includes:

  • Feb. 14 - Wii Play with Wii Remote
  • March 27 - Disney’s Meet the Robinsons
  • March - Bust-A-Move Bash!
  • March - Prince of Persia Rival Swords
  • March - TMNT
  • March - Bionicle Heroes
  • March - Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII
  • Q1 - Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
  • Q1 - SSX Blur
  • Q1 - The Godfather Blackhand Edition
  • Q1 - Medal of Honor Vanguard
  • Q1 - Sonic and the Secret Rings

Fans of the popular Wii Sports games will enjoy Wii Play - a collection of nine new sports games in the Wii Sports style. Wii Play includes games like Billiards, Fishing and Shooting Range, a target-practice game reminiscent of Nintendo’s classic Duck Hunt. Nintendo is packaging Wii Play with an additional Wii Remote to promote the multiplayer aspects of Wii.

In addition to new titles, Nintendo has announced the release of additional classic titles on Wii. Monday saw the Virtual Console release of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past from the SNES, growing the library of downloadable Wii titles to 42. Fans will also be able to play tried-and-true classic Nintendo franchises such as the upcoming Mario Kart 64. Nintendo will continue to make weekly announcements to update Wii owners about upcoming releases.
