First off you don’t turn a supercomputer into a game. I don’t give a flying freak what it does. I wanna play a game. Now Im sorry if offend any so called ture gamers, but think about it. If you are a true gamer you’d know that it is all about gameplay. I don’t care about media. I care about the gameplay. And that my freinds is where Sony messed. Putting all that equipment into one machine, forgeting that it is meant for gaming. I am not concerned about pricing, but everything else is toom uch. I hope the Sony Ent. comes to there senses and realize that it is all about the game. Or have they missed that by trying to outperform their market competitors?

Prices Prices Prices.. That’s all I have to say… When I looked into buying a console I kept looking right past the PS3. $600 is insane for a game system if you are a casual gamer. Xbox isn’t much better but at least its $400. I could honestly care less about HD DVD since it’s still unclear who is going to win the battle Blu-ray or HD. There will be only 1 winner and tacking on $200-300 more just to have a feature that may be as obsolete as Laserdisc in a few years. Good luck two years from now when you can only find 15 titles of blu-ray in Blockbuster….

in the grand scheme of gaming japanese gamers are not very important when it comes to it.
Japanese game developers have been making games AIMED for American market more and more than making games for the japanese market. This is a known fact. This also reflects why the PS3 only shipped a few thousand in japan (albiet all sold out) but more was sent to North America for a reason. There are MORE American gamers than Japanese gamers. WAY more. so where will you sell your games? yeah NA. infact The Zelda Franchise is mostly popular in NA, Japan does not really care about Zelda or the Mario franchise. These games are more keen to the nostalgia of American gamers than the Japanese gamers who are not as retro as there American counter parts. Yet despite all that Nintedo still OUTSOLD the PS3 in there home territory. Sony fan boys love to point out Sony’s popularity in japan when in reality they’re just counting peanuts. The Success of a console in Japan is Irrelevant. Japanese market is really not that interested in gaming as much as you guys really.

How uneducated are you people!? Blu-ray runs at five times the speed of a regular DVD player; HD runs at three. If you buy an XBOX360 at $400, and the HD component at $200, that tallies up to $600. Well, what do you know, the same price as a PS3 (which has a better DVD drive). I think the only people who can’t see and understand the difference are probably XBOX loyalists.

all you have to do is go into any game store and you see whats happening. there are 360s on the shelves obviously because MS has been making them for a year. There are no wiis on the shelves, enven though they made alot more consoles that sony. and, no matter where you go, they always have PS3s in stock. what does that say about the demand for game consoles? i’m no nintendo fan (i have an xbox 360), but I think the wii clearly is going to come out far on top in the console wars of this generation.

I still don’t think that the blu-ray drive was worth it. I mean that is what really drove the price up and caused people to think twice about buying it. I’m not sure if their blu-ray works like the regular one, but for those, if you don’t have a full 1080p hdtv then you won’t get the full hd. maybe people did their research.

pretty much everyone here is a ps3 lover so dont say people who like xbox 360 are hating on it i like playstation and all but it just to expensive for a console if you buy it theyll think they can raise the price more so i hope they bring there price drop from japan over here and i dont see how the ps3 is better then the xbox 360 they just have a little edge over xbox 360 in graphics but some of there games cant even use the high 1080p or whatever and there online may be free but xbox’s online is doing pretty good so there the same to me just like 5 games that you cant get on xbox 360 is on ps3 so no trouble

ye i totally agree with grifter those are some kick ass games and anyone will have to admit that the ps3 is far technically advance that any xbox! Dunno about you guys but i’ve even heard rumours that Microsoft are already developing the xbox720lol sorry if i’ve got the name wrong folks but its sumthin like dat:P

Sony is looking towards long term profits here. It may be expensive now but come next Xmas, I bet there will be a drastic increase in sales as the price drops and people become more aware of what is being offered. It’s actally an amazing deal when you break down all the prices of the Blu-Ray player, wireless controller, not to mention free internet playing! Compare that to the 360 and where you’ve got a cheap console but expensive accesories, subscription to Live and limited A+ games, and well, it’s no contest. The game line up on PS3 is immense: Warhawk, Lair, MGS4, Assassin’s Creed, Motorstorm…need I continue?

The PS3 will rebound as games are finished. Sony isn’t stupid they just don’t have a game to sell yet. MS is going to slam them good when Halo 3 comes out.

Thats because Xbox 360 was the first 7 generation console out. People wanted to see how HD gaming for the first time was like. Microsoft Just Got the timing correct for when to release there console. But Overall I think Playstation 3 will pre vail . . . Hopefully

True gamers know to look past all this – MS publicity, not to sound like a fanboy, because i’m not… I love all the systems, all the great games etc. But i’ve always known Sony as #1 ever since they jousted my favorite videogame company from #1 pedestal (Nintendo), and I see why Sony was/is #1, They have more game variety in their old games than any other system to date(backwards compatibility), and this long uncomfortable silence is the calm before the storm I should hope… Sony wouldn’t just hand over the market like this, It’s still too early for overzealous Xbox lovers, or even Nintendo Hardcores to be hating on the PS3… If Sony is truly laying down and taking a beating from everyone… and not going to do something insanely drastic to fight back … I’d have to say I smell a big under the covers pay out.

PS: Sony sold more Playstation 2′s over the holidays on both Japanese and North American continents than any system did… if that’s not saying something for the company who’s machine is 5yrs old.

Playstation 3 might have a savior after all… But its’ Sega a former Competior. It might help them win the race with Xbox360… by bringing in Sega AM 2 ahahaha Sega helping ps3 this is pitiful – and Microsoft CE is powering the Sega Dreamcast System…

whats going on here, sega shouldn’t make games for its’ competiors I wish sega had a video game console again

The fact that it’s been two months does not bode well. You couldn’t find a 360 on a shelf a good 4 months after launch. Sony is not going to fail but, they are losing a good chunk of marketshare this time around.
