Is Wii Getting Out Of Hand?

Posted in Games,News,Nintendo,Wii by Chetz on December 9th, 2006

Nintendo Wii Controller with Broken StrapThe new Wii game console from Nintendo has been very well received by consumers and sales are causing serious competition for rival game maker Sony with the PS3. A lot of the hype revolving around the Wii has had to do with the controller, in more ways than one.

As most are already aware, the Wii controllers feature motion sensitivity allowing the user to participate more physically in the games they are playing. Some examples include swinging the remote like a racket when playing tennis, like a bat for baseball and even simulate punching with it in your hand for boxing.

To the dismay of some game owners, the Wii controller has gotten out of hand, literally. In the heat of excitement during a game, players have reportedly lost their grip on the controller having it fly out of their …

Posted in Intel,WiMAX by Paul Patterson on December 9th, 2006

IntelIntel recently demonstrated the completed design of its first mobile WiMAX baseband chip at the keynote address of the 3G World Congress and Mobility Marketplace in Hong Kong. The new chipset is dubbed the Intel WiMAX Connection 2300 and marks another major step in Intel’s efforts to “drive innovation in mobile broadband access”.

The demonstration was preformed with an Intel Centrino Duo mobile technology-based laptop with mobile WiMAX (IEEE 802.16e-2005), Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11n), and high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) 3G capabilities.

The demonstration illustrates the capabilities of WiMAX for handling content-rich applications without interference from other wireless technologies residing on the same system. The baseband chip uses the same software for Intel’s WiMAX and Wi-Fi products which will help ensure unified management for connectivity. The low power requirements means increased battery life and less heat to support smaller and thinner designs.

Intel will next focus on validating …

Avoid Spam with a 10 Minute Email Account

Posted in Ficticious by Chetz on December 7th, 2006

10 Minute EmailI (as do many others) have multiple email accounts, and one in particular that I use for junk email when I have to register for products or anything that I am afraid I will get spam for. With this tool, you can create a temporary email account that will expire after 10 minutes. The site says that you can retrieve the email, read it and even reply to them. You can also extend your time as needed while your waiting for the email to arrive. Dodgeit.com provides a similar service that gives you a temporary email for a week instead of 10 minutes, and does not allow you to reply.

In my tests I set up an account and it instantly gave me a temporary address. I tried sending an email from a couple different accounts (my junk accounts), and although I see the …
