This is the recently introduced PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080p Home Theater Projector from Epson America. The Pro Cinema 1080p is engineered to fully utilize the benefits of the 1080p high definition video signal by taking advantage of some exclusive technologies developed by Epson.
Epson develops and manufactures most of the major technologies that go into its line of projectors and who better than Epson to integrate all of those technologies into one cohesive system. These technologies include:
- Epson’s C2 Fine 3LCD Technology – A three-chip high definition system that produces full-time color with dramatically higher contrast ratios.
- Epson’s 1080Perfect Video Processing – Reproduces images without noise and artifacts, while maintaining the full integrity of the signal.
- Epson Absolute Black Technology – Helps to deliver dramatically high contrast ratios (up to 12,000:1) adding depth to images for the most captivating scenes possible.
- Epson is unique among projector manufacturers in that it develops and uses its own lamp technology. Epson’s E-TORL Lamp is engineered to project light more efficiently, and to maximize brightness and uniformity across the entire screen.
BenQ recently announced its own 1080 projector, but Epson currently enjoys the market share in this domain. According to Q3 2006 worldwide front projection market share estimates from Pacific Media Resources, Epson is the number one selling brand of front projectors worldwide. The new Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 is sure to build on that position.
Priced at $4,999 (estimated street price), the Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 1080 will be available in January 2007 through CEDIA dealers.
