Belkin Wi-Fi Phone makes Skype Calls from Boingo Hot Spots

Belkin Skype PhoneBelkin has announced that its Wi-Fi Phone for Skype now allows you to make Skype calls using the Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi internet access service.

Boingo Wireless is a global provider of Wi-Fi Internet access through the Boingo Roaming System. The Boingo network consists of 60,000 hot spots in more than 60 countries worldwide. Hot spot locations can be found in airports, hotels, cafes and other public places, including metropolitan hot zones.

You will need to sign up for a Boingo Mobile Unlimited account to take advantage of the Skype service on the Boingo Wi-Fi networks. Boingo unlimited gives you unlimited access to Boingo hot spots for $7.95 per month.

Measuring about 4.5″ x 2″ x 5/8″ (11.5cm x 5cm x 2cm), the Belkin phone is about the size and weight of an average open-faced phone. The phone interface is uncomplicated and the Skype functions are easy to navigate with the center-control toggle.

The Belkin Wi-Fi Phone for Skype (F1PP000GN-SK) is currently available for preorder at Skype or Amazon ($179.99 USD), with launches in Asia, Europe, and Australia to follow shortly.
