Posted in Games,Nintendo,Wii by Paul Patterson on November 6th, 2006

Legend of Zelda
The story takes place in the land of Hyrule where an evil darkness envelops the realm. The story follows Link, a young farm boy in a small village who is ordered to attend the Hyrule Summit. Link learns he must travel to the Twilight Realm where he transforms into a wolf and is ultimately captured. Link must scour the land to uncover the puzzle behind this inexplicable darkness with the help of a mysterious girl named Midna. Link is adept with a sword and shield, but also makes good use of his bow and arrows.

Wii Controller Features

The basic movement of Link is controlled with the analog attachment. The buttons on the Wii-mote allow you to interact with items, access your inventory, and check out your map. The d-pad gives you three slots to assign items from your inventory (left, right and down).

Melee attacks are all tied to the Wii-mote’s movement. Players use the remote to perform sword swings, spin attacks and shield shoves while the analog attachment allows you perform Link’s special power move by either shaking it or moving it in a circular motion. You will learn other abilities as you progress through the game that will require other movements of the controller such as fishing or projectile-weapon aiming.

Link can also take a Wolf form where the d-pad switches your view to take advantage of your enhanced senses while in wolf form such as picking up someone’s scent or talking to other animals. Pushing down will let you dig in certain areas to find items or get out of tight situations. Attacking in wolf form relies on your actions with the Wii-mote as attacks can be combined into a sequence of moves like your sword attacks in human form.
