Sony PS3 Launching Soon?

Sony PS3

Sony Corp. has recently stated that it may not be reaching it’s shipment target for this year with the PlayStation 3 game console due to a crossover parts shortage with the Blu-ray high-definition disc drive. Sony’s plans are to ship two million PS3 players before the end of this year in the U.S. and Japan, and six million worldwide in Q1 of next year.

“The honest answer is it’s more of a target’” for PlayStation 3 shipments, Jack Tretton, co-chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said yesterday in an interview. “Clearly we’ve had production issues.”

A smaller number of shipped PS3 consoles would give Microsoft XBox and Nintendo Wii a jump on already competitive console market when they have their consoles go out next month in time for the holiday buying season.

The PS3 is still planning on hitting stores Nov. 17, and with it will come 22 …

USB Finger Mouse

Road warriors looking to minimize gear while maximizing efficiency need look no further than the USB Finger Mouse. The Finger Mouse is a miniaturized mouse that attaches to your index finger and shortens time between keyboarding and mouse movements.

The mouse works by strapping the mouse to your index finger and using your thumb to operate the mouse buttons and scroll wheel. The innovative design allows users to write or type while operating the USB Finger Mouse at the same time, thus shortening the operation time between keyboarding and operating a mouse. Your middle finger acts as a stabilizer to provide support when double-clicking. Some Sick iPods

Posted in Apple,Digital Audio,Digital Video,News by Darrin Olson on October 18th, 2006

iPod VirusYes, I think the iPod is pretty cool, but we are talking about the more common use of the word “sick”.

Apple said yesterday that it had discovered that a some of its Video iPods shipped with a Windows virus on the player.

“Less than 1 percent” of the Video iPods sold after Sept. 12 were infected with the Windows RavMon.exe virus, Apple said.

“This known virus affects only Windows computers, and up to date anti-virus software which is included with most Windows computers should detect and remove it,” Apple said in a statement on it’s web site. “So far we have seen less than 25 reports concerning this problem. The iPod nano, iPod shuffle and Mac OS X are not affected, and all Video iPods now shipping are virus free. As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy …

Olympus WS-320M Voice Recorder

Posted in Olympus,Voice Recorders by Chetz on October 17th, 2006

Olympus WS 320-MVoice recorders had a time when I thought they were pretty cool because they had those tiny little cassette tapes. I remember going to the doctor’s office (for routine visits, of course) and seeing many little tapes lying around with different files where the doctors would dictate on them and file them away.

Well, voice records have come a long way, and dictation is not recorded onto little tapes anymore. If you are in need of a good voice recorder for dictation or anything else, Olympus has a sweet one. The Olympus WS-320M is a digital voice recorder with a few extra features. Aside from being able to record up to 277 hours, it can also be used as a music player supporting MP3′s and WMA files, and will work as a storage drive with up …

Mighty Mini MoGo Mouse

Posted in Mouse,Newton Peripherals by Darrin Olson on October 17th, 2006

MoGo MouseInnovation like this are great to see, and this one really caught my eye. At first glance I had no clue what it was, but soon learned that I was looking at wireless notebook mouse, the MoGo Mouse to be specific. The functionality of the MoGo mouse is not necessarily what makes this so cool for me, although they did pack all the functionality of a wireless Bluetooth mouse into a very small flat design.

The thing that makes this notebook mouse unique is that it happens to be the exact size of a PC card, and the MoGo Mouse happens to fit into a standard notebook PC card slot for storage. No mouse laying around in your laptop bag…cool. Also, no batteries that need replacing…way cool! While this mouse happens to be in the PC card slot, the PC just happens to charge it …

Posted in Apple,Mobile Phones by Paul Patterson on October 17th, 2006

AppleAccording to new rumors surrounding Apple Computer, the digital music behemoth is readying two new cellphone models for possible release in January. In a report by Prudential Equity Group analyst Jesse Tortora, these new models could launch at the January 2007 MacWorld conference. Reports of Apple officially filing for the ‘iPhone’ trademark further fuel the rumors.

Tortora went on to say that “recent checks” give him reason to believe Apple will begin selling a smartphone and a slim music phone.

No information has been released as to what type of business model Apple will use to sell the phones. T-Mobile is considered a likely partner after Chief Executive Robert Dotson said during a press conference Oct. 6 that Apple’s operating system represents the future of next-generation wireless networks.

The Electric Bug Swatter

Posted in Outdoors by Chetz on October 16th, 2006

Electric Bug Swatter No more swatting bugs and leaving a smashed mess when you are using the Electric Bug Swatter. Yes, it is just like it sounds. Similar to the blue bug “zappers” on your uncles porch years ago, you now can carry that power in your own hand.

When using the Electric Bug Swatter, you simply turn on the switch to charge the electric current and heat up your racket. Two AA batteries send approximately 1400 volts at a low amperage coursing through the grid of bug death and zap insects dead in mid air. Hold the racket still and you can let the bugs come to you, unwittingly flying straight into inescapable doom.

This swatter gave us hours of unintended uses and enjoyment, but please note that this is not a toy, which Quagmire can vouch for as you do not want to let someone …
