Those gamers looking for high-end features in a mid-priced video card have a new option in the new ATI Radeon X1950 Pro graphics card.

ATI’s fastest multi-GPU platform

The Radeon X1950 Pro is the first graphics card to make use of new native CrossFire technology, thereby simplifying the multi-GPU experience by eliminating the need for a branded CrossFire Edition card.

CrossFire is a graphics technology developed by ATI to compete with NVIDIA’s dual-video-card SLI technology. The CrossFire system allows two ATI video cards run in a parallel pipeline to help improve gaming performance, which is similar to how NVIDIA’s SLI works. ATI claims that their CrossFire solution will work with any 3D games or applications.

The Radeon X1950 Pro is also ready to support the Premium Windows Aero User Experience on Windows Vista. Windows Aero is the name for the new graphical user interface in Windows Vista and is intended to be a cleaner, more aesthetically pleasing user interface. In addition, ATI recently earned the industry’s first graphics hardware Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) certification for Microsoft’s new operating system.

This card should be a welcome option for gamers who are upgrading their rigs for the new fall software releases. The X1950 Pro is available and shipping now with an estimated street price of $199 (USD).
